Great Polish Map of Scotland, Eddleston

On the 12th of April 2018 at the Mercure Barony Castle Hotel in Eddleston (Scotland) took place a new (after renovation) unveiling of the Great Polish Map of Scotland, whose originator years ago was Jan Tomasik, ex-soldier of general Maczek. Tomasik in 1968 bought Barony Castle, and already in 1975 cartographer Kazimierz Trafas began his works over this magnificent map. In the celebration of unveiling of the Map of Gen. Maczek participated sisters Malina and Maria Samborska, as delegates of the Memorial Foundation Supporting Culture and Art of President Ryszard Kaczorowski, which realizes the program Liberation Route of the 1st Armoured Division of gen. Maczek. Continue reading “Great Polish Map of Scotland, Eddleston”

Monument of general Maczek in Edinburgh!

Scots will honor general Maczek. They will erect a monument to him in the heart of Edinburgh.

The Edinburgh authorities want the soldiers of Maczek to take part in the unveiling of the monument. Monument will stand on the courtyard of the City Council on the famous Royal Mile. Designed by a Polish artist Bronisław Krzysztof, a bronze sculpture – presenting Maczek sitting on a bench – will be financed from a public collection, which can be supported e.g. through a website www.paypal.me/generalmaczek. Until now, more than half of the required sum has been collected – about 50 thousand out of 85 thousand pounds.  Continue reading “Monument of general Maczek in Edinburgh!”

On the 17-19th January 2018 in Warsaw, visited a delegation of an association Heart of Poland, from the Netherlands, led by its president, Bożena Rijnbout-Sawicka, who also represented Maczek Museum in Breda.

Among many meetings, which the delegation held during their stay in Warsaw, some time was found also for talks with the Management of the Memorial Foundation for Support of Culture and Art of President Ryszard Kaczorowski. The aim of the meeting was to present the mission and activity of both organizations, mainly in relation to the program „Liberation Route of the 1st Armoured Division of general Maczek”; it was established that there is a great potential to undertake bilaterally successful cooperation.
